It is hoped that this site will be a resource for those Mossman musicians - part gathering place, part archive, part historical perspective from those who were there.

It was great to find your blog. I have been a Mossman fan for over 30 years. We carried the brand in a music store where I worked in the 70's while attending college. One strum from the Timber Creek I still own and was immediately hooked. I presently have a 76 Tennessee, 76 Timber Creek and a 74 Great Plains. I love the way these instruments sound and are a great bargain on the vintage market. Wouldn't trade them for anything.
P.S. I looked for the Wordpress Mossman guitar site, but there wasn't anything there... Just the blank page... but the colors are "ooooh" so great.
Ms. M., I am looking at a 1982 Golden Era with only 2 names on the label, yours and Mr. Mossman's. There is also a "3/8" on the label. I know it has been a long time (25 yrs !), but would you happen to remember anything about the guitar?Thanks, George
Hi.Greetings from liverpool U.K.Made up to discover your blog;and the fact that you worked there.I`ve loved and played these amazing guitars for 10 years now.I`ve begun quite an archive of all things Mossman.I would love to hear a recording of the Mark Twain stories/monologues?My first Mossman has a small Christian sticker next to the Luthiers signatures,quoting Philippians 2v.11 "...Jesus Christ is Lord"I believe David Stockwell had them printed up.I would be grateful if anybody had more information on this.Is David Stockwell still building fine guitars I wonder.Did you make them too?My Guitars date from75/77.Happy easter to you all out there.Harry
Chris, here...I've got a 1976 South Wind, I bought in Denver in 1995. What an amazing guitar. My buddy talked to Stu Mossman in person at an exhibition Mossman gave to an elementary school children in 95 or so. Mossman claimed he remembered my very guitar and thought in ten years or so it would easily fetch five or six grand, maybe more. Does anyone know current values of these awesome axes. CHRIS
I have a '77 Southwind and I don't have any intention of selling it, but I would wildguess the ebay value at... oh... 2500? I have ebay bookmarked to open up with a search for mossman guitar so I usually spot the ones that pop up there. It is unusual for a Mossman to sell for more than 2k on ebay. However, using ebay values as a sort of barometer might be flawed, but it's a starting place anyway.

I am the proud owner of 3 Mossmans, a 77 Flint Hills, a 77 Southwind, and just picked up a 76 Winter Wheat. My Southwind has the silver Grovers on it, and I have seen some with Gold ones. Is this normal? or has somebody switched gold for silver? Stuball

I have a South Wind #77-4502 with silver tuners. It is a great guitar with much character(weather checking), but easily the cannon among 16 guitars in my collection. My brother-in-law has tried to buy it as well as a local collector. This will be one of the last to go!! As well, it is the only "fancy" guitar I own.

I have a South Wind # 77-4502 with silver tuners. It is easily the "cannon" in my collection and will be one of the last to go. It is the only "fancy" guitar in my house and has the most character(checking). I paid a song for it and had the neck reset at The Podium by Marty.

I thought i had a Southwind #3467 but today i found out that the serial number is marked on the heel block and checked mine and found out that it is really 77 4637!
Don't know if this is legit or not, but so much of my childhood is bathed in the memories of being in Winfield, or when Stu et al would drop by our house in Augusta. Really miss those great times, great music, and great stories. My dad was Bob Lamb, and he did all of Stu's artwork over the years, and I have his two Mossmans, which I am proud to own, and will never sell. I wish we could reminisce sometime, and there is so much time shared, but I was too young to appreciate it fully like i can now. I still remember Stu allowing me to put a note that I wrote into David Carradine's guitar case. (I was a huge Kung Fu fan...lol). Miss you all. Please contact me if real. :)
